Constanza is a Senior Research Associate at the University of Missouri. Her long-standing research interest is in understanding immunological responses to virus infection and how to leverage basic science discoveries on vaccine development. Constanza received her PhD in Molecular Virology from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, studying HIV-1 diversity and its impact on viral fitness. Later on, her first Post Doctoral training was on understanding Dengue and Zika virus-host interaction at the University of Santa Catarina, Brazil. She then continued her training at the University of Iowa with a main focus on uncovering the molecular mechanism by which host SAMHD1 protein regulates NF-kB and type I Interferon signaling. In addition, she also collaborated on a project investigating the role of N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification on HIV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 in regulating virus replication and immune recognition.
