Short Bio

Karen is a Senior Research Associate at Dr. Henry Wan's Lab. Her interest is to study the viral and host factors that affect the dynamics of influenza viruses. Her passion for research started while studying how viruses were able to travel long distances on their natural hosts, such as waterfowl during Vet School. She continued her studies on Influenza viruses by using the mallard as an animal model during my Ph.D. program at The University of Georgia. Her long term goal is to understand the factors that allow the persistence of avian influenza viruses in poultry species.
